CorePunk is an isometric MMORPG with an open world that blends mechanics from MMORPGs, MOBAs, and action/RPGs. The game features PvE and PvP elements, character progression, world exploration, crafting, and combat mechanics inspired by MOBAs. The development team needed extensive testing to ensure game stability and mechanics worked smoothly before launching the major alpha test.
Business Requirements
Our client required robust testing of its MMO systems, server stability, PvP interactions, party mechanics, and overall player-to-player dynamics. The game’s complex blend of genres and systems required careful balancing and constant iteration based on feedback. The team also had to respond quickly to changes in plans and test new features in real time.

We conducted four rounds of playtests, ranging from 3 to 10 hours, with player groups varying from 50 to 200 participants.
The focus was on testing server stability, MMO mechanics, PvP, party dynamics, and player interactions. We ensured that each round helped fine-tune the game’s systems and balance.
Additionally, we ran a smaller, functional test every week with 8 players before their large-scale alpha test to ensure core features were fully operational. Our team worked over weekends to address immediate needs and adapt to any changes in the development schedule.
Our testing helped the CorePunk team identify and resolve critical server performance issues, ensuring a stable environment for the alpha test.
Feedback from the playtests provided valuable insights into PvP, party mechanics, and overall MMO gameplay, helping the developers fine-tune these systems for a better player experience.
